Ideas we welcome

We are interested in clear explanations, garment and outfit comparisons, thoughtful fashion history, dress-code interpretation and useful ways to think through wardrobe choices. A strong contribution has a specific subject and gives readers a fresh, grounded way to see it.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the working title, central idea, intended reader and what the piece will help that reader understand. Explain the shape of the article and why it fits Select Style Review. For a comparison, name the options and the criteria; for a historical piece, identify the question or change you plan to examine.

Keep it original and clear

We look for original work in a natural, accessible voice, with claims that can be supported and specialist terms explained. Avoid sales copy, generic trend round-ups and advice that treats one body, budget or taste as the standard. Disclose relevant commercial interests in your proposal.

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to send a pitch. Include a short outline rather than a finished article unless a draft has been requested. Please do not assume a response or publication until the proposal has been reviewed.
